The Time for Advocacy is Now.

 

Federal and State officials are hearing from constituents that high-speed broadband should be prioritized, but lawmakers typically lack the expertise to understand the complexities and nuance of the telecom industry. 

 

With $65 billion from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) about to flow to the 50 states, concerns are mounting that policymakers don’t have the complete picture. 

 

Many state broadband directors have taken jobs in Washington, D.C., or have left the public sector altogether, leaving a void of institutional knowledge at the state level. Policymakers have turned to the telecom lobby for help, and are receiving biased guidance. We’re here to change that, we’re here to definitively say that municipal broadband is a success and a necessity.
